Joseph Deagan was an operator stationed in Fort Knox before the mist came. His squad was wiped out en route to Louisville, where they were supposed to rendezvous with other surviving squads. They never made it to Valley Point before the humvee broke down and he had to hoof it. He awoke one evening on a makeshift lookout post, perhaps constructed by the homeless, where he had broken down in exhaustion. He awoke bathed in cold sweat. Memories of seeing the others ripped apart, and his CO being dragged into a pile of monsters with screams. He's all alone and his radio got lost in the shuffle.
